.Welcome to HHW School for The Performing Arts
 
The Henry Hendricks Weddington School for the Performing Arts is a school without walls. We operate as a not-for-profit educational community program of Goodcity/Chase. We officially began in the year of 2002. Our year round program involves up to 200 youth including a touring company. During the summer we service about 30 paid apprentices; and during the fall and spring, our programs include a combination of both paid and unpaid apprentices.
 
HHW partners with such organizations as the Chicago Public Schools, University of Illinois at Chicago Performing Arts Department, Project Chance, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Goodcity, nfp, After School Matters, Life Vine Works, Elijah's House, and others. 

 

HHW's Arts Au Pair Program also assist organizations by partnering with them to enhance the development of their young people in the world of the performing arts.  They supply teachers, mentors, master classes, props, supplies, and finances. They are currently sponsoring the Chicago Public Schools All-City Elementary Youth Chorus, Chicago Public Schools Advanced Arts Education Program Performing Arts Department, Literary Expressions - Passage to Your Truth, and Leo Catholic High School Music Department.

 

 

MISSION STATEMENT


 

 To serve as a vehicle for transforming the passion and energy that youth possess into life skills that will act as a foundation for their development into successful adults.  We accomplish this by coupling rigiorous, academic based arts education methodologies with practices that foster a process of self reflection and the development of a broadened social consciousness.
